OK BEST is a high school robotics
tournament which caters to most of Oklahoma. In OK Best, teams
participate in building robots over a 6 week time span using a kit
including motors, servos, batteries, PVC pipe and wood among other
things. After the six weeks is up, teams meet up again and compete
against each other on a course, where robots are controlled via remotes
and complete different objectives in order to receive points.

OK BEST: 2002 Warp X
Game

The main objective of OK BEST is the
score points by completing an assortment of tasks. There are many ways
of doing this. First, you may pick up a vibrating ball called a "bumble
ball", and put it into a square. Also, you may remove noodles from a MTCV (Multi Tube Containment Vessel). Thirdly, you may pick up
rings and put them on
"candles." Finally, you can take "dynamite sticks" (PVC pipe) or "alien
balls" (tennis
balls) and place them into the front two rows of the MTCV, also you
get 10 points for hitting the tie-breaker paddles. The trick is that
you have to use more than one method of gathering points or you will
never be able to win. It seems tricky but Norman
North is up to the challenge. For detailed pictures click here. |

Over the past five years, Norman North has been an
active and competitive participant in OK BEST robotics, winning two 1st place
trophies and one 3rd place trophy. We accredit our successes to hard work,
thoughtful planning and adroitness. This year we hope to add to our wins by
learning from our past mistakes and sucesses. |
